We offer a range of services to help treat injury, illness, chronic pain and dysfunction.
Remedial Massage / Passive Joint Mobilisation & Traction
Remedial Massage is primarily used in the treatment of painful conditions or injuries involving soft tissue; muscle, tendon, ligaments and joints. Remedial Massage helps reduced muscle tension, relieves acute and chronic pain, improves blood circulation, increases mobility and range of motion of joints, reduces stress and improves functioning of the body’s systems.
Myofascial Release
Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to foot without interruption. Fascia surrounds every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel and organ of the body.
One of the roles of fascia is that it wraps muscles into groups and separates the body into compartments. Fascia can become distorted as a result of trauma, injury, surgery, repetitive stress or simply years of poor posture. This eventually decreases mobility and can lead to increased pressure and dysfunction of nerves, blood vessels, joints and organs, resulting in pain, malfunction and misalignment throughout the body which can produce seemingly unrelated symptoms.
The aim of Myofascial Release is to relax muscles in spasm and release contracture of connective tissue using palpitation and subtle manipulative techniques.
Lymphatic Drainage
The Lymphatic system is our front line of defence in fighting bodily infections, detoxifying the body and transporting metabolic wastes, excess water, bacteria and toxins out of the body.
The Lymph glands (at neck, armpits, groin etc.) are connected by a broad network of vessels which transplant the fluid. Muscular movement is required to move it, as there is no "Heart" to pump it.
Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle whole body treatment that relaxes the nervous system and aids the body's immune system. It is highly recommended for those prone to and recovering from sore throats, colds, infections, on-going tiredness, excess fluids, low immunity, swollen node and also for the physically inactive.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage helps to reduce and alleviate neck and back pain caused by improper posture, muscle weakness and imbalance. It alleviates stress on weight-bearing joints and musculo-fascial structures, reduces oedema and fatigue due to increasing lymphatic circulation, improves circulation and therefore greater oxygenation for mother and baby. It also helps to restore the nervous system to reduce stress, which supports and nurtures the expecting mother.
Oncology Massage
Scientific studies have shown the benefits of massage for people with cancer who are having treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. Touch and body-based practices are important for wellbeing, during illness and recovery, for all ages and on every level - physical and emotional. Massage improves sleep, reduces muscular tension, provides a sense of calm and improves self-image and quality of life.
Functional Release Therapy
Cupping
Offers very quick treatment time if required for busy people on the go. Unlike massage treatments where you need to take care after a session a client can get back to their task immediately if need be.
Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine. The Chinese believe the suction facilitates the flow of “chi” meaning life force. Many believe that cupping helps balance the yin and yang, or the negative within the body. Restoring balance between the two is thought to help restore the bodies resistance to pathogens. This involves suctioning the skin with glass, plastic or silicone cups. Oxygen is removed from the cup using heat or an air pump creating a vacuum suction. The cups are left on the skin for a period of 5 - 15 minutes.
